Here are a few shots from my family’s trip last week to Las Vegas and a day trip to the Grand Canyon. I’m a terrible travel/tourist photographer.

Phoenix -> Chicago

with one comment

While waiting at the gate for my plane yesterday morning, I read the textbook on photojournalism I purchased a few weeks ago. I was reading the chapter on photo stories and  felt the urge to do a little story on my travel, especially since there was a good chance I was going to miss my connecting flight in Denver. That didn’t happen, but I did make a few interesting photos.

Let’s Go to the Mall!

with 3 comments

After the Nationals game Sunday, I spent some wonderful time with my mother on a stroll west from the US Capitol and the Supreme Court to the Lincoln Memorial. Some people decided to embarrass themselves on segways. Finished with a meal at the nicest college bar that makes Legend’s look like Kam’s and Kam’s like CO’s.

Plethora of Baseball Panoramas

with one comment

Last Summer, while gas was still over $3.50 a gallon, my mother decided we should go on a baseball road trip to New York then back through Pennsylvania. The first panorama is actually from a wonderful 3 day weekend I spent last April going to all 3 games of a series between the Chicago White Sox and the Detroit Tigers, when I came Steve Bartman close (read 5 outs away) to seeing a no hitter. The stadiums on the road trip are, in order, Yankee Stadium, Shea Stadium, Citizens’ Bank Park, and PNC Park. Yankee Stadium and Shea Stadium are both demolished now. Bringing the camera into Yankee Stadium was a absolute pain, bags were not allowed, even empty ones. I had to carry any equipment I needed and check the rest at a shady bowling alley underneath the 4 Train tracks. All images shot with a Nikon D70s and stitched together using Photoshop CS3.
