Summer Sounds
Quad Lightning
I heard yesterday afternoon that a nasty storm was approaching the C-U. I found a place on campus where I thought I could catch a few lightning bolts. Alas, the storm dissapated and I only saw drizzle and three bolts.
Black and White Bells
Between covering Graduation events (ish), Brad and I wandered down to the South Quad and explored the newer bell tower, which until recently had been surrounded by fencing since its construction.
Again, black and white shots of campus? Is something developing? Click the tag to see previous B&W shots.

Black and White Snow
After reading a bit too much about mid-century photography this week, I felt the urge to shoot in black and white (with a 50).

Feech Beech
I remembered just now that when I first got hired at the Daily Illini, I hated taking pictures of people. I was an ignorant landscape and architecture shooter, and I wasn’t very good at it. Yesterday, I knew there was the ROTC commencement at Foellinger Auditorium, so I tried to time it to be there when they were coming out, getting a feature shot of students in dress, with emotional families or something nice. Instead I got this. A commissioning of a second lieutenant in the Marine Corps. Though I can count the ‘feeches’ I’ve taken on my hands, this is definitely the best of the group, the Thumb of feeches!
