Fire Service Institute

Friday night the Fire Service Institute held an open house that coincided with their 86th annual Fire College, a time spent retraining firefighters and rescuers from greater central Illinois.

Here a few firefighters watch others demonstrate how to stop a propane fire.

Fire on John Street

with 2 comments

I received a call this morning saying there was a reported fire near First and John, I grabbed my equipment and expected the good old steam leak, which has been the case twice this year. Instead I came up to a cubic building leaking lots, lots of brown smoke. I took a lap around the building, getting some photos, and I wound up on the NE corner right when the flames made it to the window. It was quite an experience watching the fire develop, since I got there before the firefighters got their hoses hooked up and I was there for another 90 minutes. I put together a slideshow on the DI website.
