The Flying Fortress
Again I got the chance to go up in a plane over campus, this time in a B-17 Bomber instead of a Piper Archer 3-4 seater.
It was just amazing to stick my head out of the top of the plane and look around – briefly because at 160 mph I’m not THAT crazy.

Shooting up a storm
An epic storm rolled through Chicago and the suburbs and was heading for east central Illinois last night and once I got to safety I was extremely excited to shoot lightning and heavy rains. Unfortunately for me, the storm died between Bloomington and Champaign and all we got was mild rain.

Kids these days
I took a tour of the new ‘residence hall’ at ‘Ikenberry Commons’ today.
In layman’s terms, they built a new dorm at the six pack.
Lightyears better than what I had two years ago. These students are going to have air conditioning, carpeted hallways, co-ed floors, walls that aren’t painted bricks, and 25% more space.
They will though have to put up with constant construction.

Rainbow sunsets
While at work tonight the storm clouds broke and the sky lit up beautifully. I went to the 4th floor balcony to get some images. To my surprise when I turned around a giant rainbow was looming over Urbana. I lost it. I was so excited. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve run out in the rain trying to find a rainbow to take photos of. After the (double) rainbow disappeared, a strange blue region began intersecting the brilliant orange sunset – something I’ve never seen before.
